That last email was heavy, how’d it leave you feeling? I’m genuinely curious. If I am being completely honest It made me a little uncomfortable. I’ve used my voice to speak up in the past, my discomfort comes from experience. When I started my professional journey I was taught that businesses shouldn’t take political stances. Although I don’t completely agree, I understand this notion. However, protecting, preserving and amplifying black lives cannot be a political issue in 2020. We are challenging the status quo. As leaders, we have a moral imperative to act on the injustices that we see in our communities. For many, part of the action is education. In that spirit, I want to share a piece I wrote last year about my experience in Corporate America— which led me to start D.M. Burton.
